Just picked this guy up yesterday, and he's for the most part as good as I could have hoped. However, as much as I love him, he's not without his flaws.
Pros
- He looks amazing, great paint and a very sleek look for both robot and vehicle mode.
- Unlike Leader Bumblebee, his Mechtech weapons (Sword/shield) are not oversized and clunky, and they go well with the figure.
- Mechtech stores perfectly in vehicle mode
- Articulation is very good, though his head movement is somewhat limited by his collar.
- Kibble works well as a cloak in robot mode. It gives him, in combination with his swords/shield, a very authoritative appearance.
- Electronics are not easily set off during transformation, and he has a pretty wide variety of sounds (total of 7 unique sound effects).
- Durable (also, after a few days of toying with him, there has been no sign of any stress marks or breaks, and nothing has popped off during transformation either)
- Robot mode stays together very well
Cons
- VERY back heavy
- Transformation can be frustrating
- His transformation is likely too hard for most younger children.
- I don't see little kids having a blast with him, he seems more built for collectors.
He's got some flaws, but is a great figure overall. I recommend him to collectors, though some older children may still enjoy him.

Like most other reviews this toy is really for collectors and older children with better dexterity in their hands and fingers. The entire leadership class of transformers are this way. I think the details and movability/posabilitlity of the robot are orders of magnitude better than the original G1 toys. I'm an engineer, so it fascinates me the amount of time it must have taken (or the software package) to make all the pieces fit into a certain form factor. A little disappointed with the mechtech as it takes away from the true "robots in disguise". Who ever saw a semi truck or fire truck driving down the road with bazookas sticking out....there is probably some survey of kids that think it's cool. Same thing happened with G1 toys, they all started getting less like cars and airplanes and more crazy with weapons and options at made them barely resemble vehicles when in vehicle mode....stay true hasbro.

OK, so many people hate this toy, come on, this is the best DOTM leader toy so far. By saying "best", I mean it is the most movie-accurate figure among all the DOTM line toys. Leader Class transformers is never for kids around 5 yo, so if you are a parent, ignore the "5+" on the box, because there should be a "1" in front of the "5"--> "15+"
In fact, in japan, this toy is for 15+. Does it mean Japanese kids are more stupid than American Kids? Not a chance! So please if you are a parent, don't buy this for your kids under 10 (I would say), because the toy will be broken by your little kids or at least frustrate them so much that you would wish you had never bought this toy for them.
Indeed, it is very hard to transform him into vehicle mode, so is the ROTF Leader Class Optimus Prime. The designer sacrifice the easiness of the toys to make them more movie-accurate. The toy is actually for adult collectors. I believe Voyager Class Sentinel Prime are really for 5+ kids
